It was such a pleasure to paint again at my kids’ school, Santa Rita Elementary School. I painted the outside of the multipurpose room with a landscape inspired by an old fruit box, since the area used to be apricot orchards. For the inside, I wanted to keep with the fruit theme, but this time make it more odd ball, and silly. Amazingly, the flying fruit concept “took off” and now the 50′ long wall on the inside of the multi is covered in blue sky with clouds, and flying fruit machines. The inspiration comes from steampunk and retro-futurism as well as living classroom/commissary/food fight twist and a personal agenda of “eat your fruits and veggies” marketing campaign.
