This mural was painted at Collins Elementary School in Cupertino, California. Over 100 families from the school community donated money for the mural project, bringing it’s landscape, vintage schoolhouse, and California poppies to the very center of the campus.
The mural celebrates the original schoolhouse, and also the much-loved native species garden on the far side of the playground. Collins has a class of visually impaired students from all over the district so we included tactile elements in the banner so the artwork could be both seen and felt. It was a special project for me as a mural painter! (Learn more about this project here.)
