The Third Street Promenade Murals in Downtown Morgan Hill
The City of Morgan Hill Redevelopment Agency selected Morgan Mural Studios to create a series of murals that celebrate the history and future of downtown Morgan Hill. My canvas was a 6′ tall, 350′ long wall along the newly renovated Third Street promenade. The theme was “Meet Me Downtown”. Based on that direction, I designed a series of murals that depict the Morgan Hill downtown both historically, in the present, as well as the future vision for the space.
If you would like to come out and see the artwork in person, there will be an all day event on Saturday April 17th to celebrate the new street and murals. There will be live music all day, a farmers market, and drumming demonstration, as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:30 am.
This is my hands down favorite radio station. It defines eclectic: from African drumming to yodeling, with Bollywood pop, trip hop, inventive ambient and interviews in between. Their programming consistently blows me away and I rarely need change the channel. (Except for last week when they were doing a special on “hair bands” from the 80’s. I was all too relieved to forget that era!)
LAUGH WITH LUCAS
Lucas asked my husband David if he wanted to be buried or cremated. David replied, “Cremated.” Lucas thought about it for a minute, and then said, “I think when you die we should sprinkle your ashes over your laptop.” David and I laughed to tears at the tragicomedy of his observation.
We learn to do something by doing it. There is no other way.
I have been supporting Trickle Up with 10% of my mural profits for 5 years now. They provide support to the very poor to take the first steps out of poverty by providing them with micro grants to get them started in their own enterprises. They have an amazing success rate.
