Food Flight Mural for Santa Rita School

It was such a pleasure to paint again at Santa Rita Elementary School in Los Atlos where my kids attend. The school brought me on as a SF Bay Area muralist to paint the outside of the multipurpose room with a landscape inspired by an old fruit box, since the area used to be apricot orchards. For the inside, I wanted to keep with the fruit theme, but this time make it more odd ball, and silly. Amazingly, this flying fruit mural “took off” and now the 50 foot long wall on the inside of the multipurpose room is covered in blue sky with clouds, and flying fruit machines. The inspiration comes from steampunk and retro-futurism as well as living classroom/commissary/food fight twist and a personal agenda of “eat your fruits and veggies” marketing campaign.
